A Day in the Life of Eirik

Curious about EMS’ Marketing Cloud practice team? Well, we recently sat down with Eirik Ackerman who leads our practice, to chat with him about what his life is like as a Sr. Digital Marketing Cloud Practice Manager at EMS. Eirik is one of our most friendly people at EMS and could talk all day about what he loves about his job and what he enjoys doing outside of work so we knew talking with him would be fun!

  • What exactly does a Sr. Digital Marketing Cloud Practice Manager do at EMS?

  • What does your typical day look like?

    • Each day is completely different, which I love. I usually start my day between 7:30 and 8am and end my day between 4 and 5pm. I love the flexibility in my day and making checklists so the first thing I do when I arrive in my office is check over my list of to do’s and prioritize the list according to that day’s needs. From there my day’s tend to go one of both ways: I may end up with a day full of meetings where I’m checking in with clients, conduction internal or client facing trainings or facilitating working sessions. If I don’t have a calendar full of meetings, I fill my calendar with blocks of time to put my head down and really get into the nitty gritty of building and developing. I find I’m most efficient when I can dedicate a whole day to a single client so my days rotate between each one of my clients.

  • What do you love about your job?

    • I love leading and mentoring which is what I was brought on to do, consult and train on Marketing Cloud and Pardot when needed. I get excited about sharing my experience with others while I’m consulting or training and if a client or co-worker has a question that I’m not able to answer it means I get to dig even further into Pardot or Marketing Cloud which is equally exciting. I welcome the challenge to continue to develop my expertise.

  • What do you find challenging about your job?

    • The most challenging aspect of my job is juggling between all my client facing commitments and my internal commitments.

  • What do you like to do in your free time?

    • I have a great balance between working hard during the week and playing hard on the weekends. I love spending time with my family so most weekends are spent taking my kids to and from their activities which range from theater all the way to sports. We love volunteering our time to help disabled people through the activities our kids participate in. Yes, sleeping in on a Saturday is great but it’s so much more rewarding to work with kids as well as adults who need to find new ways to do the activities they love despite their disabilities. I am also a big explorer so I love checking out the mountains and beaches near us as well as the festivals, parks, theaters and anything else I might find near by.

  • What’s a fun fact about yourself?

    • I was interviewed on TV at a New Years Eve party while I was with my family rollerskating at an outdoor rink. I think they only interviewed me because I was the oldest one there but it was exciting getting to be on tv! We also took a trip to Vancouver and we got to be on set for the tv show Once Upon a Time. I guess we’re a tv family!
